GoFundMe raises
$23,000+ for Chase's funeral expenses

GoFundMe has raised $23,000+ for Chase Knapp's funeral expenses, he was killed in the aftermath of a wreck in Burlington

On Monday evening, October 23rd, 23-month old Chase was seriously injured in a crash in Northern Kentucky on Camp Ernst Road in Burlington. He died two days later.

A GoFundMe request was posted and, as of October 29th, over $23,000 has been raised.

On Sunday a charity car show was held, says WLWT, but the station failed to note the location in its story.

"It was my goal to try to make it sure that Chase gets remembered every single day of his passing for the rest of his life," said family friend Cody Hickman, an organizer.

"Chase was really involved at a young age, you know every kid, he sees a cool car, they want to grow up to be in or you know own or one day have," Hickman said.

The little boy died Wednesday night at Cincinnati Children's Hospital after he was in a head-on crash Monday.

Police said he was buckled up in the backseat of his babysitter's car, when the driver of the vehicle lost control on a wet Camp Ernst Road in Burlington.

The car show was the second event for the little boy. Thursday night nearly 100 people attended a candlelight vigil at First Church of Christ.

A visitation will be held at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, from 11 am until time of funeral service at 1 pm.

An obituary says the boy and his family are from Melbourne.
