Man charged in fatal
crashes on Dixie Hwy

Detzel caused a three-car crash on Dixie Highway near Totten Lane last
April that killed one

Maxwell Detzel of Fort Thomas was arrested Tuesday on one count each of manslaughter, DUI 2nd offense and assault. He also was charged with two counts of criminal mischief.

Detzel caused a three-car crash on Dixie Highway near the intersection of Totten Lane on April 22, as noted by the Boone County Sheriff's Office.

Detzel failed to negotiate a curve and crossed the center line in his 1995 Chevrolet Camaro.

His car was hit head-on by an oncoming 2007 Dodge Magnum.

After hitting the Magnum, deputies say Detzel's car continued northbound into the southbound lanes, slamming into a 2000 Honda Civic driven by Joshua Ray of Fort Mitchell.

Ray, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detzel and the driver of the Magnum, Ernest Wright, 39, of Cincinnati, were critically hurt and flown separately to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
